Philadelphia Man Charged With Touching Teenage Swimmers In Atlantic City: Police

he Atlantic City Police Department and Atlantic City Beach Patrol arrested a man after he inappropriately touched several girls and women, authorities said.

On Sunday, July 2, at 5:11 p.m., Officers Deborah Gilmore and Marquez Jones responded to the New Hampshire Avenue beach in reference to a man inappropriately touching several teenagers. 

The officers arrived to find the suspect, Rojer Gomez, had been detained by Atlantic City Beach Patrol Captain Jamie Torres, police said.

There were numerous witnesses and victims that were touched or observed Gomez touching teenage girls or women while they were in the ocean, Atlantic City police said.

Three victims, ages 16, 16, and 15, came forward and reported that Gomez would swim near them, and when a wave approached, he would go underwater and touch them on their inner thigh or buttocks area.

Based on the information provided, Gomez, 29, of Philadelphia was arrested.

Gomez was charged with endangering the welfare of a child (three counts), aggravated criminal sexual contact, and criminal sexual contact (two counts).

Gomez was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. 

Based on the investigation at the scene, the ACPD believes that there could be more victims.
